Got an everyday health problem but don’t want to use medications? Suzy Cohen, RPh has several ideas for fixing these kinds of issues using natural solutions that are readily available either in your home or a quick trip to the natural grocer.

Everyday Healthy Solutions

Have a pimple that you just can’t get rid of? Try using tea tree essential oil instead. You can also incorporate it into a mask as well.

Can’t sleep? You can listen to Delta wave music that’s available on YouTube. Or, try Lavender oil.  Apply it to your wrists and breathe in. You can also use a warm heating pad, which can be relaxing. Herbal remedies include California poppy and lemon balm.

Have a hangover? Cohen recommends using N-acetylcysteine supplements. Or, if you just have a headache, try drinking either a cup of black tea or coffee or take chelated magnesium.

For small cuts, use cayenne powder. Seriously! Cayenne is a hemostat and can stop bleeding in about 10 seconds. If you have a minor burn, try applying wet black tea bags to the affected area.  Black tea has tannic acid which makes it feel better.

Got heartburn?  Cohen suggests drinking a glass of water with half a teaspoon of baking soda mixed in. Why does this work? The baking soda lowers the guts’ pH, lowering the amount of acid in your stomach.

If you have eyes that are itchy, use saline in a plastic eye cup. The eye cup is like a bath for your eyes and moisturizes them. Cohen says to keep it handy in case of accidental splashing of housecleaners into your eyes.

Stuffed-up noses can be treated with a hot, steamy shower. Include some drops of Eucalyptus oil in the shower and breathe in. Combined with the steam the oil acts as a decongestant.  Basil oil works too, but too much can be an eye irritant.
