Fatigue
Do you feel that everything takes more effort than you think it should? Are you limited by the amount of energy you have during the day to accomplish what you need to? Do you have to recover for a few days after you exercise?
Fatigue can have deep impacts on your day to day functioning, making it more difficult to juggle the demands of work, family, and other responsibilities. Often patients are not aware of how much more difficult life is, or how much easier it can be, until they resolve their fatigue. Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating disorder characterized by extreme fatigue or tiredness that doesn’t go away with rest and can’t be explained by an underlying medical condition. CFS can also be referred to as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or systemic exertion intolerance disease.
Fatigue resulting from physical or mental exertion is one of the most common complaints that our patients present with, and while it is common, it can have diverse causes.
Many people think that fatigue is a normal part of aging and that they should just accept that they are more tired because they are getting older. This is absolutely not true at all. We believe you should be well and vital at any age.
One of the most important steps to take to resolve fatigue is to look upstream to why it is happening.
Often patients assume that it is their thyroid or adrenal health that is causing fatigue. While that is always part of a fatigue assessment, we rule out additional causes for fatigue, including chronic infections, hormone imbalances, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, nutrient deficiencies, and more.
Patients who have been seeking a solution to their fatigue are often disheartened as they have seen many doctors and have not had an improvement in their symptoms. Many of these failed approaches may not have gotten to the specific cause of the fatigue.
Some patients may be overwhelmed with a complicated treatment plan initially, but eventually, when they get better, the goal is for them to stay well with diet, nutrients, and lifestyle recommendations.
Holistica’s doctors are aggressive at looking for the cause of your condition and will never treat the symptom of fatigue without understanding and addressing its cause. Our staff is on board to support each patient’s unique needs and to carry out her individualized treatment plan.
