New research from Dr. Stephen Fry, MD has uncovered a previously unknown microscopic parasite in the blood of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders including MS, lupus, ALS and chronic fatigue, the latest in a thread of medical research on the potential correlations between MS and parasitic infection dating back to the 1880s. The protozoa observed by Dr. Fry creates a “biofilm” of web-like fiber structures that builds up into a sludge inside veins. Although exactly how to eradicate the parasite is currently unknown, Dr. Fry has noted its affinity for fat when grown in culture, a possible indication of the value of low-fat diets for MS patients.
